Pertussis Vaccination in pregnancy

Whooping cough can cause severe respiratory problems in new born babies. The regular vaccines protect against it but these are not given until your baby is two months old. For the first 6 weeks your baby depends on their mother’s immunity. The Whooping cough vaccine is recommended in each pregnancy to avoid the new born baby getting it. Discuss with your GP if you are pregnant but have not had the vaccine.
